Basic Use:
- Grip firmly with 4 fingers around canister
- Aim at the face of the subject
- Slide thumb under the safety flap on the actuator and press downward firmly to spray
- Defender LE stream and gel aerosols are omnidirectional and can be sprayed in any orientation (right side up or upside down, etc.)
- It is recommended to spray in approximate half-second bursts
- Always move after spraying, and assess the situation
- Law enforcement officials should be prepared to use additional control measures if necessary to end a confrontation and effect an arrest
- Law enforcement officials should always follow agency general orders and policies regarding OC use.
- All users must know and follow local, state and federal laws. Improper use is a crime
Decontamination/First Aid:
- If possible, remove exposed party to a uncontaminated, well ventilated location
- Remove contact lenses and exposed clothing
- Rinse eyes with large amounts of fresh, cool (preferably running) water. If available, use a decontamination product like ASP Defender® Decon, or a small amount of fragrance-free dish soap to help break down oil residue on the skin
- Full recovery is dependent on many factors can take 30 minutes to an hour, or more. Monitor exposed individuals until recovered. If symptoms persist, seek medical assistance
Disposal:
- Discard following local laws and regulations or agency policy regarding disposal
- Replace by expiration date on canister label
